Broken Orange Pekoe 1 Ceylon black tea with hibiscus, cranberry, apple and Sangria Punch aroma.

  • 300 ml boiling water
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (or thick hung curd )
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup; vegan version)
  • Fresh strawberries cut into slices
  • 2-3 tablespoons of mango puree
  • ½ cup of granola
  • Mixture of seeds, e.g. pumpkin, sunflower

How to make a festive bowl of granola with tea?

1. Brew the perfect base.

Start by boiling the water (it should reach 100°C). Then measure out 4g of tea and steep it in 300ml of boiling water for exactly 5 minutes. Once steeped, set the tea aside to cool to room temperature – this step is crucial as it will prevent the yoghurt from curdling when blending.

2. Prepare the cream mixture.

Pour the cooled tea into a blender. Then add the Greek yogurt, peeled banana and two tablespoons of honey. Blend until smooth and creamy. The tea will give the mixture a bit of a sweet-tart flavor, and the banana will affect the consistency. While blending, you will notice that the blender's contents will take on a subtle, pink color.

3. Final touches!

Pour the blended yogurt and toppings into a bowl. Now it's time to combine all the ingredients together, creating layers:

  • Add 2-3 tablespoons of mango puree.
  • Arrange the sliced strawberries around the edges of the bowl.
  • Sprinkle the top with a generous handful of granola.
  • Finally, add the seed mixture.

Tips for selecting ingredients:

  • If you want, you can make a vegan version of this recipe – just swap the Greek yogurt for coconut yogurt, for example, and use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • You can use any seasonal fruit to prepare granola.
  • Although store-bought gronola will work great, we encourage you to make this mixture yourself at home.
  • We recommend adding chia seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds to your granola, which are a source of many nutrients.

Meal preparation tips:

  • If you want to save time, you can brew the tea the day before and put it in the fridge.
  • For a thicker consistency, strain Greek yogurt through a cheesecloth, for example, an hour before preparing the meal.
  • If you don't have ripe bananas, add a little honey for desired sweetness.
  • Spread the granola on the very top of the bowl to keep it crunchy.

Why is it worth using tea as a breakfast ingredient?

Tea can be used in many different ways; not just as a hot infusion to drink. Adding it as an integral ingredient to meals opens up many culinary possibilities. The Berry Serenade composition is a source of sweet and sour taste reminiscent of Sangria wine - such an addition will diversify and enhance the flavor profile of breakfast. In addition, it is a good way to incorporate the antioxidant properties of tea into your daily routine.

Note: Feel free to modify the amounts of ingredients to suit your own preferences. The beauty of granola is that there is so much versatility in how you can personalize it!
