The infusion will give the whole dish a unique touch because its flavor is reminiscent of traditional Spanish Sangria wine!
What ingredients are needed to prepare a festive granola bowl?
* The ingredients listed below are enough to prepare 1 large serving of granola. *
- 4g of Basilur Berry Serenade Ceylon black tea from the Wine Tea collection
Ceylon Broken Orange Pekoe 1 black tea with added hibiscus, cranberry, apple, and Sangria Punch flavor.
- 300 ml boiling water
- 1 cup Greek yogurt (or thick hung curd)
- 1 ripe banana
- 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup; vegan option)
- Fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2-3 tablespoons mango puree
- ½ cup granola
- Seed mix, e.g., pumpkin, sunflower
How to prepare a festive granola bowl with added tea?
1. Brew the perfect base.
Start by boiling water (it should reach 100°C). Then, measure out 4g of tea and brew it in 300ml of boiling water; the process should take exactly 5 minutes. After brewing, set the tea aside to cool to room temperature – this step is crucial as it will prevent the yogurt from curdling when blended.
2. Prepare the creamy mixture.
Pour the cooled tea into a blender. Then add Greek yogurt, a peeled banana, and two tablespoons of honey. Blend until smooth and creamy. The tea will give the mixture a slightly sweet and tart flavor, and the banana will affect the consistency. While blending, you will notice that the contents of the blender will turn a subtle pink color.
3. Finishing touches!
Pour the blended yogurt mixture with the additions into a bowl. Now it's time to combine all the ingredients, creating layers:
- Add 2-3 tablespoons of mango puree.
- Arrange sliced strawberries around the edges of the bowl.
- Sprinkle a generous handful of granola on top.
- Finally, add a mix of seeds.
Tips for selecting ingredients:
- If you wish, you can prepare a vegan version of this recipe – just replace Greek yogurt with, for example, coconut yogurt, and use maple syrup instead of honey.
- For granola, you can use any seasonal fruits.
- Although store-bought granola will work great, we encourage you to prepare your own mix at home.
- We recommend adding chia seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds to granola, which are a source of many nutrients.
Tips for meal preparation:
- To save time, you can brew the tea the day before and refrigerate it.
- For a thicker consistency, strain the Greek yogurt through, for example, a cheesecloth an hour before preparing the meal.
- If you don't have ripe bananas, add a touch of honey for the desired sweetness.
- Place the granola on top of the bowl's contents to maintain its crispiness.
Why use tea as a breakfast ingredient?
Tea can be used in many different ways; not just as a hot drink. Adding it as an integral ingredient in meals opens up many culinary possibilities. The Berry Serenade composition provides a sweet-and-sour taste reminiscent of Sangria wine – such an addition will diversify and enhance the breakfast flavor profile. Moreover, it is a good way to incorporate the antioxidant properties of tea into your daily routine.
Note: You can freely modify the quantities of ingredients and adapt them to your own preferences. The beauty of granola lies in its immense versatility in personalization!
